TIME TO REGISTER FOR PICKLEGLOWOOZA AND MAKE your annual BALL DONATION

We are always looking for ways to improve our Ole pickleball experience. We want to see more players involved and mixing it up with other players who they might not otherwise play with. We also want to foster more friendly competition and socialization, and we want to try something new! In addition to our GLOWOOZA, PALOOZA and MONDAY FUNDAY events, we will be running a 6- week Ladder League called the Ole Open. To better understand what a ladder league is, click "learn more" below. No matter what level you are currently playing at, we hope you will join in and try something new!
The ladder league registration will begin Friday December 12th and end January 16th. Entrance fee will be $20 and must be submitted by this deadline as well. See the $$$ tab for options to remit your entry fee. The league matches will then begin the week of January 25th and conclude by March 6th. Important -- players will be scheduling their own match time and location. Each week's match must be completed between Monday morning and Saturday night following the Sunday assignments. For example, match lineups listed on the GPN website Sunday night, January 25th, must be completed by Saturday night, January 31st because the next round of match assignments will be determined on Sunday, February 1st.
You must first register with the Global Pickleball Network (GPN). See the link below. This is the website-based solution that we are using. There is no mobile app. Once registered with GPN, you then want to join the Ole at Lely Resort Pickleball Network. Your Ole Network membership request will be approved by one of the site administrators (Monica, Kevin or Melda). Only those who are granted entry into the Ole Pickleball Network will be able to see information about our private network and its members. Once approved, you will be able to join the appropriate ladder.
There are 4 ladders this year:
· one for men who typically play at the north courts (level 3.0 and lower),
· one for men who typically play at south courts (over 3.0),
· one for women who typically play at the north courts (level 3.0 and lower), and
· one for women who typically play at the south courts (over 3.0).
YOU decide your “rating” when you register on the website. YOU decide which ladder you want to participate in.
Go to the GPN website each Sunday starting January 25th to see the match assignments for your ladder league. Contact the other 3 players in your match lineup and arrange a time to play your match. It is important that your match be scheduled and played by Saturday night of that same week since the next round of matches will be determined on Sunday and are based on the previous week's results.
Matches are first to 11 and win by 2, best of 3 games. If you and your partner win the first 2 games, you are done. If you split, you play a 3rd game. Designate ONE person from the winning team to enter the scores online. Simply go back to the match details and click on the blue + sign in the circle to the left of your names.
We will have the software send you an email notification each Sunday evening with the ladder stats. This will be your reminder to go on the website and view your match lineup for the coming week. You will be able to contact the other players in your match through the website application if you want.
DISCLAIMER -- The GPN website is new to us. Hopefully it will be great, but this is a learning curve season for the software and this ladder league so your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated!!
Our annual Palooza tournament is March 7th and we plan to publicly recognize the ladder champions at that event.
No problem. You can mark your availability on the website and then you won’t be scheduled for any matches during that time, or contact one of the administrators (Monica, Kevin or Melda) and let us know your availability. Obviously the amount of matches you play will affect your ranking.
No problem. Contact any administrator ASAP please. Ideally this communication will happen by Sunday morning as we will be setting the coming week’s matches by the end of day Sunday. We will remove you from the ladder completely or for that week or for as long as you need.
That will be logged as a forfeit unfortunately.
Probably best to stick to open play for your guest/visitor unless he/she will be here for a full month at least, then it’s probably fine to join in. Your guest would still need to register and pay by the deadlines indicated.
For this to work, we need people to be flexible and available during this timeframe. If you simply can’t make it work with the others in your match, please contact an administrator ASAP and we will try work out something - or those 4 players will just skip that week. For this to work well, we need committed and flexible players.
No problem – but for purposes of this league this year, we will only record the results from the one scheduled weekly match for purposes of determining movement on the ladder.
If Open Play timing works best for your foursome, then please be respectful of others and rotate off the court after one game just as you normally would. It may just take longer to complete your match.
Really? You do? Just kidding. We decided to limit this year’s league to 4 ladders (all male or all female). If all goes well and the administrators aren’t too overburdened, we hope to add additional leagues for 2027 such as Mixed Doubles and Divorce Court (for the married players).
Contact Monica Cobuzio, Kevin Scheckelhoff or Melda Bolton right from the Global Pickleball Network website – or find our contact info under the CONTACT tab.
